Jeff Eckert
Tampa artist Jeff Eckert has been called “master of the pencil.” While some might consider the pencil a simple tool, in the hands of an artist like Eckert, the pencil brings subjects to life like no other medium.

Eckert moved to Tampa from Los Angeles in 1996 where he had worked as an archivist for the Hanna-Barbera cartoon animation studio. He had two hobbies: collecting memorabilia – mostly from things having to do with film and Hollywood – and drawing complex pencil portraits. He turned 40, decided to move away from California earthquakes and to pursue a career as an artist.

Since then, Eckert has been very successful in that career, winning many best of show awards, including best of show in two-dimensional work at last year’s Winter Springs Festival of the Arts.

The festival committee chose his work as the poster image for the 4th Annual Winter Springs Festival of the Arts. His work will be on display at the festival and signed and unsigned copies of the poster will be available for purchase.
