2019 Poster Artist: Nancy Connors, Coral Reef
About our Poster Artist
Nancy Connors is a Florida artist who uses pen and ink to craft images of birds, fish, shells and seascapes in meticulous detail often adding vibrant colors to create inspirational depictions of the natural world. Originally from Maryland she attended Rollins College in Winter Park, receiving a B.A. in Art History and Studio Art. During a long career in Arts Administration she continued to pursue her life-long love of drawing. In the mid-‘90’s she owned and operated a small gallery in St. Petersburg but it was not until she retired in 2010 that she began to work full time on her art. After moving with her new husband to Michigan Nancy began displaying her work in major regional shows as well as The Detroit Artist Market, the Grosse Pointe Arts Center and the Gallery of Royal Oak. She was also a four time participant in the prestigious Art Prize competition in Grand Rapids. Since moving to New Smyrna Beach in 2016 Nancy has become a frequently featured and award winning artist on the Florida art show circuit. Using fine point Micron pens, archival ink and aided by a 10 time magnification jeweler’s loop each piece is structured around Nancy’s trademark attention to detail. Color is added with acrylics and water color pencils applied with super fine brushes. ‘Even when I was living and working up north the unique, colorful and diverse natural beauty of Florida was my inspiration. I am obsessively driven to capture the minute detail of the earth’s most fascinating creations. It is my goal as an artist to inspire people to stop for a moment and observe closely the complexity, patterns and detail in the nature that surrounds us.’
